Offline | Drivers door central locking - won't unlock - will lock Dear All, My wife has an '03 Mini Cooper. The drivers door (UK) has just started to not unlock using the remote key. It will lock fine, but not unlock. Any clues. I've tried some of the fixes already mentioned (not unplugging car battery yet though) Cheers, Quigger. |

| Mini Madness | Sounds like the lock unit / actuator has packed up. We've the same issue on the passenger side of our '02 Cooper, sometimes it will unlock fully, sometimes the lock button only rises halfway on the first click of the remote. I've just ordered a replacement lock module that should fix it although it will require half of the door to be stripped down. Chris ![]() 2007 Clubman Cooper D ~ 2004 Cooper S JCW |

Online | I had something similar on my 2004 MC. I traced it to the manual locking button sticking on the door trim (that it passes through). Guess the clearance changes over time or the door trim may have been removed for another reason (squeeking window actuator!). Some oil and repeated manaul lock/unlock cured the problem. The motor does not seem to cope with much resistance. Worth a try - cheaper than replacing anything. Herbie |

Offline | My passenger side door had the same problem. Will lock but won't unlock. I tried taking out the fuse to possibly reset the computer, and then the whole thing broke. Only could unlock my driver's side door afterwards. I was told it's the solenoid actuator. I had to replace the passenger door's actuator. Part costs about $80 dollars, but at dealer it'll probably cost about $450 installed. However, the power door lock still didn't work afterwards. I had to then disconnect the car's battery (negative terminal) for five minutes, reconnect it, start the engine (but don't touch any door lock switches) for five minutes, then use the key to manually lock the door from the outside. Afterwards, everything worked again. Hope this helps. |
