ive read a few posts about seats stuck in certain positions. im having trouble pressing the lever down so i can let passengers in the back. the lever is fine pulled upwards to tilt the seat but pressing down nothing happens. it feels like the lever doesnt even press down anymore. bmw want 400 quid for a new backrest!!

welcome to the ***** seats of Minis.

Yep BMW will want loads, when mine jammed forward the passneger one that is, they wanted min of 400 to investigate and fix. Took me 3 hours to strip the seat down ( as was stuck over bolts in forward position) then turned out to be the runers mechanism. So bought new one from BMW for 85 quid and fitted myself.

personally i would look to strip the seat out yoruself and have a look, its either the base and runners thats gone, or check to see the cable for the lever has not come off its mountings, can do and that means sometimes that the seat will not trigger.

They are ***** seats, Just for info that 400 quid will buy you a whole new interior if you had to.
