Offline | Noise going over bumps! Hi For some while now everytime I hit a bump or ride on a bumpy surface I am getting this rattle or "clonking" noise. Its either coming from the front or rear of the car. My mate said he thinks its coming from the front. I heard that this could be an issue with the top mounting bushes or the front anti roll bar links. Is this common? Anyone else had similer issues? If so is it fairly costly? I was going to get it booked in to be looked at. The noise has been there for a while. Im guessing its nothing major but should be sorted really. Thanks guys |

Offline | Will do. Got it booked in for the 26th as this is the easiest for me. I spoke to the dealer and they said they would go all round it and do a safety check. If anything needs doing then they will sort it. I told them about the knocking noise and they said they would look into that too. I initially rang for a service as I thought this would be the easiest option as I want everything looked into but they said a safety and initial check would be the easiest as it was only service around 7k miles ago. Hopefully will get it sorted and it wont be too costly! |

Offline | **update** Hi Went to the garage today for a MINI safety check and the issues came back the following... Checked for cause of rattle/clonk and found the top rubber cup on the shock absorber had a crack and required replacing Also they found out the that near side rear brake pads close to sensor / possible brake caliper seized!! This is all that came from the safety check which I dont think is too bad. The top rubber cup is what I suspected as I have heard it is fairly common. Not sure so much on the brake situation though. They had my car for just over an hour and took it out for a test run to investigate the knocking. The check cost me £56.40 which I didnt think was too bad. At least I know they have gone round it and checked all is well apart from whats wrong. Just gotta get it sorted now. Hope this helps |

Offline | Hey I had the work carried out today and it was the near side front shock abosorber mounting!! It had a crack in it and was causing this annoying "clonk" Now the noise has gone might be worth getting yours looked at first like I did and then going from there (thats if u not sorted it already) Cheers Dan |
