Overheating

Hey all,

My 2006 MCS (my beloved little Smidgen) has a problem & I'm hoping someone can tell me whether this sounds very serious. Lately when I start the car, I can hear liquid sloshing. Anyone else ever had that happen? Today the temperature gauge lit up, and the fan has come on a couple of times lately. Obviously a cooling system problem, but why would that system be freaking out on me? I scheduled maintenance for today. Any thoughts? How worried should I be?

I had a similar problem a few months ago... Firstly, check the water levels.

It turned out the engine header tank had a split in it.

I am experiencing the exact same problem, water sloshing, over heated on way home from work and took me three hours to get home, my expansion tank was empty after having checked it weeklysince I bought it 3 months ago!

Clean the water bottle and see if there is any coolant leeks around the bottle. I am losing water at about a tank every 2 weeks! Going into BMW on the 4th I hope I dont cook it, I have had to resort to carrying around excessive amounts of coolant in my car!

Anyone know the exact diagnosis, would be helpful!?

Cheers
