Offline | Door won't stay shut Me and a friend where going for a drive, but when we got in my car (02 Cooper), he couldn't get the door to stay shut. After countless attempts, we figured out that the door latch thingy didn't lock when pushed in/up. Is this a common problem? It might be due to the cold weather here (-5 C) and the fact that I rarely use the passenger door, after trying a few more times it suddenly worked again. A couple of weeks ago I had a flat battery after leaving the car for a week, this got me thinking that maybe this caused that, but if the door was open enough to cause the interior light to come on you would think I would notice. |

Offline | are you sure it is the latch and not the window lowering? hi there Are you sure it is the latch and not the window lowering properly? I have had this problem sometimes on the passenger side. What you got to do is lower the window a bit and then close the door. Then close the window again . Sometimes the window stays put when frozen and doesn't move down so the door can close properly. That is why I never slam the doors of my mini.Kunne forklare dette på norsk også.....bor i oslo, frogner hvis du trenger noen hjelp.... Alex |

Offline | I am pretty shure it's the latch, I tried moving it with my fingers and it wouldn't lock, the window was the first thing I thought about, but lowering it didn't help. I haven't dared opening the door since, so it might just have been a temporary problem, but since there are a few design/production flaws with the Mini I figured this might be one of them. Bor i Trondheim, men takk for tilbudet. |

Offline | I have heard of exterior door handles freezing on earlier MINIs 2001-2004 (this can cause your problem), 2004-Present MINIs have a slightly updated exterior handle (which is supposed to stop them freezing), I would have thought in a country with a lot of frost & snow, these would have been changed on warranty at sometime .I have also known this happen on UK MINIs when the door lock mechanism has failed / broken and the frost wont help either .This happens on UK cars without the frost (the window stays put (doesn't drop a little)) .![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind.
