First Cooper - key fob and auto-lights queries

I picked up my first 54 plate Cooper on Sunday and absolutely love it, but have noticed a few issues.

Firstly the button to open the boot on the key fob doesn't seem to work and when opening the car with the spare key, it sets the alarm off. Also the auto-headlights don't seem to go off when its daylight.

Can anyone shed any light (excuse the pun) on these issues?

Ta!

The auto-headlights could just be due to the time of year. When the sun is still low in the sky there isn't enough intensity to make them turn off. Some days mine are on all day.
Could be as simple as this, or could be something more complex.

As per the other issues, I have no ideas, sorry.

Mine's a 57 plate so I don't know if the same applies but I took mine back to the garage because of the auto lights and the boot not opening.

It seems the auto lights work off infra-red light and not what we see but they've adjusted mine now and they do seem a little better. Also, check that the day driving lights aren't set to "on" as they'll just stay on all the time with this setting.

The boot works like this on mine...

Unlock the car and then hold the boot button down for a few seconds. The boot should pop open a little.
