Windows and sunroof keep rolling themselves down on their own, often.

My father has a 2003 Cooper S (USA if that matters). The other morning his battery was dead, which I'm assuming was from him leaving a light on in the car. When I went out to jump the car for him both windows were down and the sunroof was open. I rolled them back up, plugged in the battery charger and went back in.

Not long after I walked out to check on the charging status and I saw the windows all roll down automatically, along with the sunroof. I didn't hit any button on the keys, all I did was open the rear hatch.

Now his windows and sunroof are constantly opening themselves at random times. All day, all night.

Does he need a new battery? Did some module get fried? Is there anywhere I should be looking for damage/moisture?

Thanks all!

Loads of these threads on here if you look under 'faults and fixes'.

This happened to mine and it was water in the body module, which had to be replaced by the dealer (under warranty still, thank goodness)

As posted above, it is probably a fried BC1.... However, the MINI is pretty particular about its power so I suggest the cheap route first and replace the battery with a new one. If that doesn't solve the mystery, it is likely the BC1.

I did do a search, and it did point me in the right direction.

As DaFlake suggested, I may just try the battery first. The car went from rolling itself down every 20 minutes to not at all now. The temperature has been fluctuation a lot recently too.

If anyone else has any other suggestions that would be great. If not I'll keep digging.

Thanks all!
