Offline | Hello I have a 2005 Cooper S and seem to be having problems with her cooling system I think. I have coolant so haven't run out of that, but the fan comes on when I stop the engine, even in really cold weather, the AC is making a noise which I can only describe as a 'dry noise' so I've stopped using it (thankfully it is winter at the moment) and when I get stuck in jams the engine temperature goes sky high until the red light goes on............... Obviously, I can take it to the garage but if it is something simple then I can do it myself! Any sensible answers will be welcome Reboot |

Offline | I would take it back to BMW to be sure, I would have thought your system either needs bleeding or your thermostat has died. As to your AC thats something for the specialists to check. |

Offline | Reboot, is your heater blowing out warm air ok ? if not, it could be an air lock in your system. if so, it sounds like your thermostat is not opening when it should, best to get it checked out asap. |

Offline | Hello Thanks for all the advice, the air is blowing cold when I obviously turn it down to cold. But I rang the garage who do a "drop in" service, so will get it checked out tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed! |

Offline | Coolant Temp. going high ![]() Just joined, to add to this, I have a 04 Copper S JCW . Yesterday while driving the coolant temp. light flicked on and off. Then all of a sudden the indicator needle jumped up and then back again. It happened a number of times then, BMW can't check it out till next week. The coolant reservoir is ok, fan is operating,I think its the sensor because once it flicks high it then immediately flicks back to mid point. I can leave the car ticking over ,no high revs etc, it's just when I'm driving. Have parked it up waiting on bmw. Can anybody ease my fears. |
