United-Kingdom advice on my mini troubles.......

hi!
the other week my mini "eml" light came on and my car had reduced power, so i pulled over to trhe side of the road turned off my engine and started it again and my light was gone, so i carried on and never thought anything of it.
on monday it came back on, and ever since every journey iv been on, it has been coming on randomly, sometimes if i turn the engine off and then back on again its gone, other times it stays on. i have also had trouble starting the car a couple of times, and it doesnt run overly well sort of bunny hops a bit at times, then can clear and be totally normal for the rest of the journey.
its been into a friends garage today and he pluggd his computer in but he didnt regognise the codes i though id try it before paying mini prices.

has anyone else had any sort of problems like these??

Cheers Lewis.

Yes, i've had the EML light come on, and the car go into limp home mode. I booked the car into my dealers to have a look, and from the fault code they diagnosed a faulty throttle body. Then had to book it in again to have the work done, all done under warranty and has been fine ever since. You could take it to a MINI specialist if there is one near you rather than a main dealer if you prefer.

Or dodgy throttle body......

Get someone with a reader or the dealers to read the fail codes to get the answer

Oh yeah! lol!

Let us know what the code numbers are or tell him to upgrade his software unless he's using a cheap code reader.
