I think you should get it booked in and done. Specialist are buying your car off you so they'll know they've done the work.

Well thats what im thinking, but ive no spoken to the 'man in the know' (i.e Dad ) and he says to not worry about it

If I leave it and it goes back like it, will they notice it before its sold on again and get it fixed? I'll feel really guilty if the new owner has to take her back so quickly

I think you'll end up booking it in, if only to clear your own conscience.

It isn't going to cost you anything is it?

Right ive booked the car in for the first available date with a courtesy car - 12th Feb

I tried to explain to the woman what the problem was and she really wasnt understanding me, so I said it will probably be a warrenty issue, and she turned round and said 'oh well it might not be as it might be something you've done' Yep coz driving the car under everyday use, and sensibly I might add is my fault

I hope if there is a problem with it, that it is a warrenty issue and that I dont have to pay anything!

its not a problems, mine was replaced a few months back on 54 cooper s, surprised you hadnt noticed a clunk when you accelerate or brake!

mine was driving me nuts before it was sorted, every time you slightly braked etc youd get a clunk!

dont think it can cause any damage by running like that for a while, mine was dry for ages before they sorted it.

Too true

Ive just had another check now, to double check it wasnt just wax with muck stuck to it Areas with wax scrape off with my finger nail, but where its all black it seems to have stained the paint Is it oil or something?
