Seems to have moved up in the rev range now around 3500

I will try cleaning the plugs and report back, im guessing due to the responce that this isn't a common problem (either that or not many people get thier spanners out LOL)

Cheers

I think you may need to give us a few more details. What age is the car? What kind of shudder? Give us something to work with

There are a number of threads on MINI2 regarding a "stumbling" or "Loss of power @ 3500rpm", this is usually the supercharger bypass valve.

Problem is that it can be a whole bunch of things. If It is moving, I am betting on a clutch or tranny problem.

Just noticed that this is in the 2nd Gen MCS forum though. Hence the need for a bit more info

Im new, thats my only excuse LOL

Its more of a hesitation than a judder, the rest of the range is fine under load just these few probably 50 revs?

No worries, I moved it to the proper forum. OK, can you describe the shudder a bit? Does it feel mechanical or is it like a hesitation (car losing power)?

I'm gonna lean towards the BPV as well now. That little part tends to fail frequently causing what you are feeling.

Swap... Here in Germany you can get them for about 60 Euro. It sits just to the right of the Intercooler so you will have to remove the IC and a few small bits to get there. I also recommend that you replace the three nuts that are holding it on as they really are a one time use and if you are like me, you are bound to drop one.

could it be that there is a mechanical part on a modern car not boud by electronics????

Yeah, it is kind of a pain to get too. I did find that if you do decide to do it a cool bit to remove is the plastic bit that the intake air line connected too. There are a few plastic tabs that to pop it out and it will allow you the ability to get to the nuts easier.

I have had my BPV changed, it made a difference. not just to the stutter! Overall improvement in smoothness power and noise.

It does... I run a Detroit Tuned one now. It was a bit jerky when I first got it, but it has since smoothed out and the response is very nice.

Bpv

Just had the BPV changed on my 03 MCS JCW after tech noticed loss of power on road test. Marked improvement in power delivery and bags more noise, was initially worried about the noise but after checking on the site have put it down to the car finally being back to full boost.

Get that new valve on and enjoy!!
