1st Gear doesnt feel right

Hi

just noticed today that when i put in 1st gear, it seems to slot in but it doesnt feel secure but i can also push it in further. did that make sense!

Its hard to explain, seems to go in 85% and then feels like a click and then it will travel the further 15%, its only in 1st gear, all the rest are okay.......

any ideas??

Fabio

When you're accelerating up you apply a little bit of pressure to the gearlever towards neutral does it pop out or does it feel secure?

It sounds like it might be the gear linkage gone awry somewhere, if it's still in warranty it should be a simple fix.

Sounds like a buggered selector fork or something along those lines

Is it in warranty?
If it is get it to the dealership ASAP and they'll almost certainly replace the 'box

It may be the selector lever unit or the cable or its adjustment. I would suspect this before the internals unless you make a practice of slamming the gears. If the problem is internal, it would be a damaged synchro.
