Clicking noise coming from outside car

Recently I have noticed a Clicking sound coming from the car when moving, At first I thought it maybe was a nail in my tyre or even a stone that was lodged in the tread.

Today, I decided to give my tyres a once over, I took each wheel off, and inspected to see if any signs of nails or stones.

I found a few stones that were lodged, so I removed them. I did have what looked like a small tack in 1 tyre, but it did no protrude enough to hit the ground and make the clicking noise.

(Its defo coming from outside the car, and from the drivers side, it sounds as if its from the passenger side)

After checking everything out and going for a test rest, the mystery click was still there.

My dad seems to think it MAYBE could be the Drive Cuplink? but again, we are unsure.

Its not so much of a loud click, but you know its there (as if you have something stuck in your tyre).

Anyone got any ideas? is this a common fault? expensive to repair? what else could it be? etc

I am due for my MOT in 1 month, do you think I should wait until then to see if it gets picked up? or booked it in now and fork out £'s for labour, when it could be nothing?

Thanks

Have you tried jacking up the car and spining the wheels by hand to see if you can hear and diagnose it. C.V. joints usually only click when on a full lock. Hope you find it and get it sorted because it can be very annoying.

Good idea that, I will try that tonight. I take it the CV joints will only be at the front on a Mini?

I hope its not the joints as I've heard they can be quite expensive

Is it a very tiny tick like click?

I've got one of those too, just noticed it recently

Synchronizer perhaps. I have always had a click on my 06 and never had a problem. My truck did this as well and it was a syncro..

Syncros work in the transmission to match the speed of the gear that you are going into. Without them, you would have to match the speed manually.

That would make sense, as I usually hear it as I'm changing gear (I think - will have to listen out for it properly now )

I was told by a friend of mine (a BMW Master Tech) that there's a known issue with runflats making odd noises, the cure is to remove them, turn them 1/4 and refit.
