Unhappy A MINI Problem...

Hello, new to the forum so if anyone can help me please respond to the thread...

I bought a MINI One back in August 2001 and have suffered some of the problems other people have had, notably having to have a complete new fueling system from scratch, complete new front suspension, new wingmirrors, three new dashboards, new airbags, new seatbelt pre-tensioners, new gearbox switches, new ECU, new CD player, new brake system and new sensors, at least 10 35-mile round trips and 4 out of 12 months in the garage trying to be fixed... slightly inconvenienced and a little bit annoyed, especially as the car isn't fixed yet!

I finally had enough and was about to hand the car back and forget it completely, then drove the Cooper S. I ordered a new one soon after, trading in my old pain-in-the-backside One.

Has anyone had any form of compensation from MINI themselves having faced similar problems (MINI Customer Servies are ignoring any correspondence from me at the moment!). Something for me to bargain with when buying the new one would be very nice to have.

Appreciating any comments you may have...

Welcome to MINI2, seems like you had a bit of a rough ride

There's a few people around who've rejected their cars for new models with far less of the problems than what you've had! Perhaps that could be a route to follow?

Welcome to MINI2

I would advise performing a search using the key words reject/car etc. - as Dom mentioned, they are quite a few threads on that subject matter.

Good luck!

I complained to Mini Customer Services and they sent me a cheque for £100.

They didn't ask me to sign a disclaimer at all.

A strongly worded letter and they didn't even contest it, just sent a cheque straight away.

This was after I got the Mini Fridge free from the dealer.

WOW, that is definate cause for rejection, unless they have repaired all of the faults if there is still a fault persisting write a letter of rejection demanding a full refund of the purhcase price (presuming they gave you less than you paid for the car in PX) and ask for a car to drive whilst awaiting your replacement.

U are also entitled to request any out of pocket expensed you have incured whilst having work done under warranty.

Petrol, time off work, wasted holiday time!

You should not be out of pocket because you were sold a lemon!

Compensation, you may be in luck, if you don't ask you wont get.

I have requested recompense but never compensation, it's tough enuff getting recompense.

I had a ruined driving holiday in Belgium becuase the gear linkage failed, if a cheque doesn't arrive immanently a summons will be winging my dealers way!
