Angry Sno tires & now tire warning light

Just changed to Blizzaks from my runflats. My runflats are 17-inch; the Blizzaks are 15.
The tire warning light is now blinking. I checked the air in all 4 tires; I turned the car off & turned the key to the second position and pushed the reset button near the hand brake. I also checked the archives on this web site and read everything I could about the warning light.
So, that said, does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Denise,
When you pushed the reset button, did you hold it down until the tire warning light came on constantly? Mine won't reset unless I do that. Then you ahve to turn the key off and back on again.

Lightbulb Thanks Tom

I'll try that. If it doesn't work, tell Mary Jane to get the guest room ready!!

After reset, I would just drive it awhile and it hopefully will go out.

When I got my snow wheels and tires my light came on too. Both are 16" wheels with 195/55R16H tires but the X-lites are lighter than the old 5-spokes and the Goodyear Eagles NCT5 EMTs are undoubtedly a different weight than the Dunlop SP WinterSport M3 DSSTs so the system was alerted.

When I drove away the light came on so I pulled over to a gas station, checked that the pressures were fine (well, they were a bit low for my liking but all showed 30PSI), got back in the car, put the key in accessory position, alternately pressed the button and held the button down hopeing the light would go out but it didn't go out so I gave up. Next I turned the key off, then cranked the engine and the light was out after the normal self-test period where all the lamps are on. I drove slowly for the next 10 miles or so in case the light came on again but it didn't.

Hopefully you just have to fiddle with the button again. I didn't do anything special really. The owner's manual is not very explicit on describing how to reset the condition. Good luck!

Question

Seems obvious but what if the light is already on? It says to press the light until it turns on but it was already on! So in that case, how long does one press it? It doesn't go out right then. Others have reported flashing vs. solid on, etc. so it appears that it is not as simple as the manual suggests.

I guess my mistake and perhaps the original poster's was to not press the button right after getting our tires put on. We waited until the warning lamp came on which is a situation slightly different from the one discussed in the manual.

Thumbs up Success

I was not holding the reset button down long enough. Thanks to all who showed me the error of my ways, especially Tom, whom I have bothered with all manner of dumb questions.
As soon as I held the reset button long enough for the light to stop blinking, I turned the key to the off position, waiting a nano and then started the car. The light blinked off!
