Hi,

Has anyone tried to find out how you can programm
the remote key access?
I believe on page 39 of the MINI's manual there
are several options available but can only be enabled/
disabled by the dealer.
I like to tinker and would like to know how to
change and test some of the options.

The issue of programming the key has been dicussed almost from when the first MINI was sold in the UK the summer of 2001.

The short version of the story is that many, many owners have experienced frustration in trying to get their dealers to set up the car with the features indicated in the owner's manual. Part of the problem was the manual lists some things that are not available on US-market MINIs, but are available on MINIs sold in other markets. Another part of the problem is some dealers, still to this day, are clueless on how to do the programming or don't have the proper software necessary. Some owners have had good luck getting their cars set up the way they want, but these owners seem to be in the minority.

Please use the Search function with the words "program*" or "memory" to find some of the existing threads on the subject. ("memory" being the term used in the manual)
