Info Only-Coolant leak

Mini are now aware of the leaking coolant tanks...They will be fitting modified/revised tanks from JAN 2003.
They are aware of a leak at the connecting pipe to the tank.
Cheers

how many miles before the leak

Well I have approx. 1100 miles currently and I am not sure when it actually started leaking.

I first noticed the leak this weekend at a MINI meet. I was showing off the engine compartment to a fellow MINI driver when they said "what is that". To my shock and embarrasment I had green goo all over that part of the engine!!

I too was told that the new bottle did not have the same problem, but obviously it does! I failed to check the engine compartment regularly as I should have. I did know about the leak potential, but I trusted that the new design took care of it. I was also counting on smelling the coolant, the sweet smell, that others have reported, but no smell was ever detected.

I'm taking her in tomorrow and should know more soon. After it is replace I'll check it weekly or at least with every gas fill-up. Yuk!
