Divorcing my airbag. Light should't be a problem.

Thought it might be worth mentioning that if the airbag light is on or disabled, the airbags are disabled.

My car is back in awaiting a new wiring loom. Had the seatbelt tensioner replaced on an earlier visit to the dealers.

Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40

Yep, mine too...

Airbag lite came on a month ago, about two weeks before the shifter cable came away from the cogbox. Called the dealer's salesperson to ask if this indicated that the airbags were disabled & was told "I'm not sure..."

After the dealer replaced the cable & test drove it, they found the lite on (it went on & off for me) & ordered up a new seatbelt tensioner (add one day to week-long shop visit for cable).

So far, so good.

'Course, this A.M. I spotted a 6" crack in the windscreen, right in the middle of the bottom! (I know now I'm not the only one with this defect - it's being discussed elsewhere here)

My light has come on to! Took the car to my dealer and they told me that it is a know fault with the connectors under the front seats. The fix takes about 5mins and involves disconnecting them and adding some conductive cream to the pins and then reconnecting them. Athough the light has not come one since it does imply that the conncetors are not of good quality

My airbag warning light stays on all the time now. Can't be bothered to go and get it fixed yet. I'll wait until I've got some other reason to go to the dealer.

My airbag light is on!!

After cleaning my Mini and moving both seats I drove off with an airbag light on. Appointment is set at 9AM at BMW to sort it out. I'll tell them about the pre-tensioner/loom cable under the seat in case the don't know (which I suspect)...

BTW, about four weeks ago, after taking my Mini to the pollution control test and putting the car on the dyno, the ABS light came on and lasted on for about an hour then turn off itself...anyone had this happen??

Cheers!!

2 weeks to the day!

Car goes in on the 19th!

Oh well the interior needed valeting anyway

Cheap full valet (about £45 round here) just have a fault with your mini and take it for them to fix and clean your car

Airbag light

My air bag light has come on for the fourth time since March.

Is this a record ?

My dealer says they're having the same problem on the BMW 3 series now.

Air bag fault fix

My fix was to have the wiring loom replaced - that what they told me.

I was not aware that there was a known error with the airbags.

Man alive - are we all guniue pigs for the MINI ?!?

The service manager at my dealer says the Mini wiring looms are in his words CRAP.

Its all down to poor contact adhesion of the pins going into the airbag control unit...poor/high resistance!

The warning light came on in my ONE on Wednesday. Dealer said it was fairly simple to fix and I have it booked in on Monday morning. However after reading this post I'm not so sure it will be done in the hour they said.

Here's hoping!

I'd completely forgotten about this thread until you posted OWLS11. I've just got my car back this lunchtime after its second trip to the dealers for the same fault (and the fault was in the same area - passenger seat airbag).

I don't want to go back to the garage again before the first service in 1700 miles time. The car has been back to the garage every two months since we got it 10 months ago. Love the car - hate the hassle of returning it on a regular basis to be fixed.

Here's hoping!

Fixed. Real quick too! High resistance on the passenger seat connection. Rerouted the wire so it would not be streched when the seat is all the way back.

Thanks Sean, You're the man!
