Offline | Water in Boot Any ideas why I am getting water in the boot of new mini, the well that holds the toolkit is a puddle of 'clean water' and the foam back of the carpet must be holding a couple of pints. There are 2 large shaped rubber grommets in the well, but other small holes are open. Should these have grommets in them. Smudge ![]() |

Offline | I have had this fault before and i found it to be comming in from the third brake light housing. This housing is made water tight by the means of a very thin/poor foam gasket which after i did various water tests was found to be sub-standard.I replaced the gasket and also made it more substantial with some butly tape. I also have had water comming in from the rear light housings/clusters which again have foam gaskets fitted to them and are only held in by a 10mm nut and two clips...not very secure/tight to say the least. Hope this helps! |

Offline | Sorted my boot water out. It was down to a bad bit of welding halfway up the rear pillar, open the hatch back and you can see the welded join. Min is going to body shop soon for reweld. |

Offline | Supposedly had my boot water problem sorted out (had seals and rear light housing replaced), but after several water free months my boot again has water under the carpet. It's only on the left hand side. Very annoying. It's going in again next week along with my rattling drivers window, rattling seatbelt anchor, rattling doors, and rattly latch (yes I do have the electrical tape 'fix'!). Think I'll insist on them fitting the new chrome latch. One day my MINI will be stress free |

Offline | Thought my water in the boot was solved until I went to pick up the car, when they pressure washed the back during valetting the water was getting in again. They now have the mini back to try again, and I have a BMW 1.8TI as a courtesy car so I'm quite happy. They have had the mini for 10 days now, I think they must have lost it. Still I'll keep the BMW for as long as it takes!! |

Offline | Whereabouts is your water problem, under the carpet, to one side? Mine is to the left of the tool box, the rest of the boot is completely dry. There isn't always that much to see, but that's because the foam carpet backing soaks most of it up. I've had new boot seals and light housing, so that more or less rules those two out as the problem. I've been wondering if it could be to do with my boot latch rattles and the profile of the boot. The left hand side of the boot isn't quite flush with the bodywork. Turning the rubber bumpers inwards gets the boot flush, but the rattling gets worse. |

Offline | It comes in both sides Left and right. It runs out of the bottom of the side panels and onto the floor under the foam carpet, then into the tool box well. It takes about 2-3 minutes with a light hosepipe around the edge of the door for a trickle of water to appear on both sides. |

Offline | Got my car back today after two days in the workshop. They're fairly confident that the water problem is fixed, we shall see! On closer inspection I was surprised to see a vaseline like substance has been applied inbetween the light housing and the bodywork. It's very soft to the touch, so I can't see what good it will do in the long run, maybe I'll be proved wrong. The substance has a blueish tinge to it. Aquapel to the window seals. Boot latch hasn't been upgraded to the new chrome one, but they've certainly adjusted things. Looks like they've done a decent job on the seatbelt panel rattle. I'll give the car a good testing over the next few days. |
