When I start my cooper 's' from cold I hear (quite loudly) a gushing gurgleing sound and when i rev the engine i hear it again for a mile or so until the car is warmed up. Any ideas? does anyone else get this?

welcome to the 'strange gurgly sound' club. run a search on gurgle or sloosh & you'll find loads on this. The good news is that is seems completely harmless & usually goes away after a few weeks. However it has been known to come back.

Current thinking is that it's air blockages in either the coolant or air con lines & may also be linked to colder weather.

I had this after a trip to the service dept.
I'd check your coolant tank as it is probably...

1) A leak
2) An air lock that has now been filled with fluid

Both cause a gurgle noise, a bit like a central heating system and a radiator full of sludge giving way to an air lock...
