New computer

When I recently took my MC in because the fans fuses where blowing, in addition to replacing the stupid power steering fan, which had hit something and had a damaged blade, the dealer also replaced the interior computer. They said it was a recall. The mechanic said it was the whole windows going down automatically thing that is cover in other forums. The funny thing is that I got the sales ladies' MCS as a loaner for the day, and it was on the blink. At least now I know that it is not just my car, and also the dealers own cars that go wrong. Needless to say that it was quite entertaining taking friend for a spin in the MCS when the windows and sunroof would keep opening in the rain.

Anyway, one comment about the new computer, which has #32 sofware. I can't open the windows by holding the key in the unlock position(comfort opening)(drivers door)like before. I asked the dealer and even programmed my car with him, but now I can only open the windows using remote button on the key, and no longer can open the boot via the remote button on the key.

Another comment, prehaps this should be a new thread, but here goes anyway. The wiper on stationary function(continous speed drops to interitent when stationary), has never worked on my car, even though I have seen it enabled on the computer. Is this limited to certain builds (mine is 0202) or computers, or is something else prehaps wrong?

Many thanks

James

I had the BC1 (computer) recall done too, although I'd had no problems with this.

I also lost the ability to open both windows at once from the door unlock switch - VERY disappointing as I REALLY liked this feature and used it on the occasional nice day we get here!

Re the wipers: Mine go from high-speed to normal speed but not from normal speed to intermittent... The speed-linked intermittent works though and is cool!

Mine is a Oct 01 build.

Where's the recall listing? I just had the same computer replaced for the same reasons and the dealer made no mention of a recall on it. I'll have to check the comfort opening issue. If there is a recall, it sure explains why they were so nice.

I'll seen if I can notice my wipers going from high to normal speed. Another thing my rear wiper doesn't activate when I'm in reverse, like I thought it should. I also read in another forum that the windows can now be opened using the central locking switch, but mine doesn't.

PS My BC1 didn't actually fail.

update on above post:

my comfort opening of the windows is still activated. I went out and tested them this morning.
I haven't tried the rear window wiper in reverse, though...

I gotta ask: Why on earth would you put the key in the door? I've never found a reason to do so and I certainly can't imagine why anyone would go through all that trouble just to get the windows to roll down. Why don't you just press the button on the key?

On a similar note: What is the purpose of the remote hatch opening? Don't you need to lift it from the handle anyway?

Anyway, I have the M32.0 software. I don't know much about the wipers (Arizona), but the windows will roll down if I hold the center conslole door unlock toggle switch in the up position. Also, of course, if I hold the key button. I've never put the key in the door though so I don't know what that does.

I thought we were discussing using the key fob. I've never used the key in the door either. In any event, at the moment, all the windows and sunroof open on command and not by themselves. My problems seem to have been solved. Hopefully the will not reappear.

The wipers do not go from slow to intermittant at a stop -- only from high to low.

The rear window wipe on reverse never made it into production. When the rear window wiper is first activated, it wipes 4 times, then goes intermittant.

Sounds like the only problem you're having is with the comfort opening.

Why don't you just press the button on the key?

Because not all cars have this programmed into them and some (like mine) are incapable of having this programmed into them (Oct 01 build).
