Strange Rattle - MCS

Hi,

I've owned a Cooper for nearly 2 years now and have just received an MCS.

It's done about 70 miles and there is a prominent rattle from the rear drivers side passenger area, near the rear shelf area.

both the rear seat belts are fastened so it's not them rattling. The cubby hole covers in the boot are locked tight.

It sound like some seatbelt mechanism or something.

Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing...

There's nothing loose inside the rear cubby hole in the boot on that side is there?

It's not the rear quarter panel interior plastic trim? Make sure it's all clipped solidly into place.

It could be the seat back latches are not fitting snuggly.... drop the rear seats down and check the striking plates on the latch mechanism. I know some people have even used insulating tape around the exposed metal parts to stop them knocking together. There is a thread out there somewhere relating to this ithink...
Good luck, hope it helps

Ah yes, I'll try these and some other diagnostics...

This takes me back to when I first got my new MINI Cooper. I expect there to be a few rattle and squeaks and I'm not getting bothered by them this time round 'cause I know the car is SO DAMN GOOD !!!!!

I'll let you know if I find out what the noise was.

Incidentally, love the smooth leather seats !! - they were all knobly in the Cooper.

When I say that they are smooth, I am referring to the finish of the leather, not the sagging.

Not sure if you meant this too.

No, my leather isn't sagging, but its not as smooth like when it was new.... even gave it some Autoglym leather treatment at the weekend... it is starting to develop a definite pattern. Anyway, still like it, so no big deal. Lapis blue inserts are cool
