Offline | High-pitched whistle at speed? Just recently, (in the last day or two) I've noticed a high-pitched whistling noise - it only happens above 60MPH, and sounds like it comes from somewhere in the front, but I can't make out exactly where. It's not very loud, the radio at normal volume almost totally masks it - but with the radio off it's pretty noticeable. Any ideas? I looked for loose trim on the outside of the car but didn't see anything odd. It doesn't sound like it's coming from the vents, but I'm not sure. It also does not change when I change the fan speed or turn the fan off. ---> Kendall |

Offline | I get that too. I don't hear it very often, but I'm not really sure if it only does it sometimes, or if I just don't always notice it (I almost always have the radio on while I drive and, as you said, that can be loud enough to drown it out). Some people have found that turning recirc on or off (ie the opposite of whatever setting it is on when you get the whistling) helps. Others have found that if there is anything blocking the two vents in the boot (they are on the inside, under the hatch) that can cause whistling also. For me though, I get the whistling regardless of whether recirc is on or off, and there is absolutely nothing in my boot and the vents are perfectly free and clear. If you figure anything out, let me know. It doesn't really bother me a whole lot, but if it's a simple fix, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to get rid of it. PigLick |

Offline | In my case, recirc... It turns out that I had recirc on and had forgotten about it - turning recirc off makes the whistle stop. It also could be the boot being a bit stopped up - I had read about that a while ago but didn't think anything of it when my whistle started as it sounded like it was outside the car... now that I no better I'll have to take a look at the old thread on the boot organizer causing the whistle and see if that will make it stop. I hope you can figure out your whistle! ---> Kendall |
