Today I went for a drive at lunchtime. The sun had been shining on the car for a while, so inside it was quite hot and I thought I'd take the opportunity to use my manual aircon.

Previously, I'd only used it once with the engine at idle to check that it worked.

About 15-30 seconds after pressing the button and while I was still at low speed in the car park, a noise started up. It was a kind of mechanical growling noise. Basically, it was just chaning the noise of the engine quite significantly.

I've been in other cars with air conditioning and never heard a noise like that. It was enough for me to turn it off and not use it. I'm sure a noise like that is not normal.

Mine did/does this and has done since I got it, I find that it it's only when air con first kicks in and fades away after a few seconds. I complained several times and my dealer changed my air con 'expansion valve' which cured it for a while but it's back again. I'm waiting for the summer when I'll start complaining again
