Red Cooper Blown driver's sidelight

My Feb '03 Cooper's driver's sidelight is playing up. The sidelight blew in the first week so I replaced it with a Halfords bulb. Now I've noticed the sidelight is noticably dim. I noticed 'baldie' complaining of his sidelight blowing 10 times in 3 months. Is this common? Does anyone know the correct wattage for this bulb (I put in a 5W)?

it's usually just a loose connection... seen loads of mini's with a sidelight out! Mine did it a few times, wiggled the wire and it came back to life

The first bulb blew - the filament is all over the inside of the glass bulb! Now my new one is dimmer than the nearside bulb and makes the car look rubbish in the dark!

have you tried www.powerbulbs.com - get the bluevision head lights and the sidelights come free. They're so much better than the standard sidelights
