Offline | Hi, I have had my car for almost a month now and have covered about 1600 miles. Was just wandering if anyone else had experienced a clicking noise from the front right side of the windscreen or dash when i sometimes go over bumps??? Also a funny rattle noise from the rear? Thanx, RYN |

Offline | Try folding the back seats down as i have found that one of my rear seat catches has a little bit of play in it causing it to rattle at about 20 mph over slightly bumpy surfaces my cooper has only done 200 miles and this was evident from day 1 it is now 5 days old. |

Offline | Yes my car does have Sports Suspension Plus and prefer this. I feel that the car is not to firm but has very little body roll. Don't really want the dealer to be taking the car to pieces to find rattles, am i being paranoid??? Offline | Rattle free total bliss. The car spent a number of hours in the garage yesterday having its first service and to have the rattles removed. The shoulder seat belt anchour buzzed. They took all the plastics off and tightened every part which had come loose. They took the seat creek out on the drivers side and they have odered the parts for the driver side window. It rattles when you open the door. This has been caused by the window crashing against the gutter. The dealer was not able to fix this problem. They told me they have number of cars with this problem and Mini is trying to fix it. Had great service. Charles BRG/W MCS |

Offline | Hi, I also sometimes get that buz coming from the drivers seat belt, bit annoying as its just beside my ear. Spoke to dealer about the other rattles and he says just to book it in. Will get round to it soon though, car is just too much fun!!! RYN SV03 MINI Cooper, BRG/Black - Chili pack, SS+, 17's, Xenons, CD Player, Clear repeaters, Heated mirrors |

| MINI2 Regular | For my cooper, I thought the noise came from the seat belt but after close listening. I found out that it came from the door panel. So I stuck a strip of velcro between the door panel and the the metal part of the door. The buzz was gone. MCS JCW Dark Silver/Black |

Offline | Took mine in last week for a buzzing in the radio housing, buzzing from the seat belt anchor, rattle from the drivers door, and a knocking from the rear passenger side. Dealer says all is sorted (still to be proven as I've not driven it since it came back) but did mention that they'd reseated the rear light housing. Took one look at it when it was delivered back and could see that the light unit was no longer flush with the bodywork. The dealer seems to be more concerned with cleaning the car than doing things right. What were small issues when it was taken to the dealers have on 4 or 5 occasions now come back with more serious issues caused by the lack of care and attention shown by the dealer. The radio housing buzz was also introduced by them when they tried to fix a problem with the heater control being stiff, this in turn was caused by them when they fitted a new stereo, they fitted the wrong sunvisor and marked the rooflining of my car (after an unbelieveable 3 attempts to diagnose why the visor kept popping out of it's retaining clip!_)..... I could go on..... To summarise, great car - one or two minor niggles, 4 or 5 major issues caused by dealer incompetence! |

Offline | I have to agree with the frustrations from ignorant dealers. I have taken my car in 3 times for fixes which dont seem to get fixed. I tell them where the problem is and I actually tell them the solutions people on this board have used and they just seem to ignore anything I am saying. I keep trying to get them to fix a buzz i hear with the seatbelt and the door anchors and they keep on saying "we can't hear anything" blah blah blah. I am so sick of it. I am going in soon to seriously scream at them. They even forgot to reset my oil change meter as well. Morons! Holy Monkey! Indy Blue Cooper / White roof, wheels / Sport Package / Sunroof |

Offline | Jayomatic, I had the seat belt buzz taken out of the the achors at the shoulder last week as well as the creek in the driver seat. They were able to do it without hearing it or taking the car for a test drive. I am so pleased. Take the car to Budds BMW in oakville, fantastic service. Charles BRG/W MCS |

Offline | Sounds like the buzzing from the seat belt anchor has now gone, but the one from the stereo area is still there, and I've opened the boot today for the first time since they returned it to me and it feels like it's jamming somewhere as it doesn't open freely anymore. Then I remembered they told me they'd tightened the boot latch as they thought it might be rattling...... on the phone to them today telling them I'm rejecting the car. I know I won't get anywhere, but hey, it's good for an opening line and then see what I can get out of them. Another example of them stuffing up something which wasn't broken to begin with! |

Offline | Dealer incompetence: AGREE The dealer told me that rattle fixes aren't free after 2500 miles. Took it in today at 2200 miles for: driver's side seat belt adjuster/anchor, boot and steering column area rattles. Grease is not a fix for a rattle. It just masks the symptoms for awhile. Or, makes things worse as is the case with my seat belt which is now covered in grease everytime it retracts. Took it back to the dealer pronto and they were using acetone to clean it off....I'm no science whiz but acetone and some plastics don't mix. Aren't the seat belts made of nylon? Question: Can anyone tell me how to take off an interior B-pillar cover so I can clean the grease out myself? Scared to step foot in the dealer service department. |

Offline | Re: Dealer incompetence: AGREE Seriously??? I'm around 3,700 miles and I hope it's not too late for me. I have rattles too - some days are worse than others. One from the rear seat hatch and the other major one from the driver side door/window. The window sounds more like a "sticky rattle" and I'm wondering if it is coming from the window not adjusting all the way up correctly when the door is closed.?? My luck, when I bring it to the dealer it will be a "rattle free" day! ![]() Pure Silver/Black MCS, DSC |

Offline | Good Luck I can only speak for the Seattle area dealer. They told me that MINI isn't reimbursing them for rattle fixes past 2500. Given the fact that I've been cleaning grease off my seat belt all afternoon, I wish I hadn't taken it in at all. I'm of the opinion that the 3/36000 rountine maintenance and warranty are more of a curse than a help with the incompetence of the service techs we have up here. Sheesh! |

Offline | Re: Good Luck I just got off the phone with the Seattle area dealer, since I have an annoying buzz in my dash that has just started with about 3200 miles on the car. I'm not ready to take it in for service yet, and we didn't discuss using grease for a clearance issue, but I did confirm that MINI USA has kicked back to this service department invoices for warranty work for noisy interior pieces on a car with more than 2500 miles. I think I read some MINI/BMW service manual information that explained that interior noises are covered by warranty (what I read was bootleg digital media, I can't cite a source immediately). I'm going to work on finding a specific reference to this (any MINI service techs on line?) and call MINI USA when I have a reference to cite. I really don't care if MINI/BMW is losing money on the Coopers due to under-engineering the interior, I won't let them compromise the warranty standards I've come to expect.
