I have just got my cooper back after having the new door mechanisms fitted. It was away for 4 days and it seemed like an eternity, I cannot believe how much a part of my life this 'little' car has become, getting it back tonight was almost as exciting as picking it up for the first time.

Thumbs up FIXED

My Locks and Windows are now fixed.

I got the newly designed door lock mechanism fitted a week ago, and I've had no problems since.

Sorted.

Surgeons make as many mistakes during their working day as you do during yours...

What's involved in fitting the locks? My car has come back with a small dent above the drivers door handle which could not be caused dy a door opening as the chrome handle would have acted as a buffer. It looks as though there has been pressure applied immediately above the handle

Smile windows & sunroof open ?

Okay sum of you mini owners all have the same fault. This is the fix new bc1 coded to the latest software (ecu) if this does not fix the fault. Then there is water entering into A post connectors on the doors.Which holds on the unlock signal.

Also pulling to left still no fix yet possable march
bmw working on it year 2002 has new set okay still pulls slightly before 2002 get a kds & renew front suspension to 2002 setup.

Battery going flat has your mini got single cd-player has it holds on voltage to long. New unit req for this fix.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW ?

I would suggest you start a new thread entitled "Fixes" or something similar. There are so many "problem" threads around here your interesting post may be missed by many.

Hello mad-mini,

New thread would be a good idea, but asking that question? Brave, very brave.

My ECU was replaced 3 weeks ago, and I've not had any problems since (need a smilie for 'fingers crossed). But for those cases where a new ECU/software doesn't fix it can you say why water entering an A post would trigger the courtesy lights and cause the windows to open, instead of only activating the door locks?

And why haven't I won the lottery?

Mystery openings and flat batteries

I had a problem with one of the faulty CD players a couple of months back which resulted in a flat battery, promptly and successfully sorted out by my local dealer. However, this week it's been like driving a haunted car with the interior light coming on when it likes and the passenger window going up & down. I thought I was the only one suffering this until I found this web site on Wednesday!

Mini's been to the dealer again today though and it seems the module which controls these things was faulty and has been replaced - I understand this is now a recognised problem with BMW. Time will tell if they've got it right! Full marks to the dealer (Snows in Portsmouth) for their helpfulness so far though...

In case he doesn't answer this, surely it's 'cos a signal from the driver's door lock mechanism/sensor triggers or can trigger all of these things:

a) interior lights come on when you unlock
b) windows can be wound up or down using lock (with key)
c) lock mechanism unlocks door (!)

This was covered in earlier posts somewhere.

Sounds right. Should have thought of it myself really.
