| MINI2 Master | Crunchy gears likely means you need a new gearbox. A bunch of people on this site have already had them replaced. My dealer told me it was wheelhop the first time I took my car in with bad sounds in first. They diagnosed it as gearbox on the second try. Go back and tell them it is absolutely not normal. Offline | This isnt a nice statement to give out on here now is it?? Or is this another go at the dealers... 1)Have you tried it back to back with another mini...For a comparison? 2)You would really have to drive it youself before you make statements like this. 3)There is no syncromesh on reverse.(This isnt crap) 4)There is no clutch adjustment..its hydraulic. 5)How many miles as the car done? Is it new? 6)Is it temperature related...worse when cold etc. 7)Are you giving it a second or two to slow the input shaft down and give it a fighting chance to select a gear...or putting it straight in? Just a few questions id like to know before i went shouting my mouth off with comments like this above! This is just my opinion and not a personal attack on obehave...Dont take it like one please. Im fed up of people on here having a go at the main mini dealers...Not all are bad. |

Offline | I feel in a position to comment on this one. I have test driven 2 CooperS cars prior to now owning mine. I posted recently on Gearbox problems and have since been into the dealer and had a new box fitted to resolve the problems. So with upto 4 gearboxs tried, 2 of which driven daily so to speak I can tell you that NON of them crunch in first or reverse all selected just fine and what you speak off is clearly a new box job! Get them told and get the warranty to do it's job! ![]() The Technospirit EB/B MINI Cooper S |

Offline | Re: Obehave eh kiss an make up. Are you a dealer ? What is the official line on air intakes such as mine. If my geabox goes, which thankfully it hasn't, will a dealer blame my intake, can he blame that ? I would have thought not. Anyone else got an opinion, obehave ? adios CHILLI RED, CHILLI PACK, MAGNEX & PIPERCROSS BAGS OF FUN gone now but not forgotten, an s next time ? |

| MINI2 Master | Putting more than stock torque into the gearbox might be cause for concern but I don't think they'd really have a leg to stand on if an intake was all you added. A turbo would be a different story. After all, the JCW Cooper gets the same intake and more and its tranny is still warranted (without any mods made to strengthen it).
