Sorry to hear about your misfortune Dirk.

I guess BMW will be reluctant to cough-up unless you can demonstrate to them that it wasn't your fault. I've had a similar experience with my cracked windscreen - the screen cracked (as has happened to many others) but BMW refused to acknowledge that the damage wasn't caused by a stone......

Not much i could do really......

Hope you do better than I did!!

Good luck

It had been the hotest day of the year and I had just driven along some country roads and a motor way so you may be correct. Thanks a lot for your help.

I had 5 "Classic" Minis and none of their handbrakes ever held them while on a hill - so I got into the habit of putting it in gear when parked - it was the ONLY way to stop them rolling away!

MINI handbrake is good though.

Dirk,

This happened to me, my MINIs handbrake failed and it rolled down a hill and crashed into my garage. Slight damage to the rear of the car, which BMW paid for no questions asked. They are well aware of the problem, so don't let them fob you off.

They fitted a whole new handbrake assembly, so obviosuly found something wrong with it. Do a search as quite a few other people had the same problem, at least 8 or 9. I printed these off and took them to my dealer just in case they refused to pay up.

Varse's Velvet Beauty Mk11 is no longer, sold back to my dealer.
