White Cooper Broken Front drivers seat!

well. I pickup up my MC on Thursday nite 5/22.. drove to New Hampshire and picked up a crack from gravel . Gave it to the dealer with 1136 on it the past Thursday am. (yeah.. in less than one week) to change the windshield..

picked it up last nite and drove it out on Long Island during the day after seeing the Italian Job.
Coming back we were a bit tired so pulled into a shopping center lot and put the seats back and snoozed for .oh 20 min..
and getting up.. the passengers seat was fine..
BUT THE DRIVERS SEAT WOULD NOT COME BACK UP!!!!!!

this car is JUST over a week old.. and we've not had use of it for a full week!! Now we cant take it tomorrow because of the seat (had to buy some large pillows at that shopping center in order to prop up to drive the car back!!)
and now I have to bring it in AGAIN on monday!!

Has anyone else had similar problems with the front seat???

Rob

i have had all sort of problems with my seats, both drivers and passengers side. they have both been replayed (with the exact same seats(i.e. no upgrades or modifications, and guess what i am having all the same problems again, including the infamous very annoying rattling! just get them to replace the seat, don’t spend time trying to get your dealer to fix it, because they will only get grease on the carpet and mark up the interior (talking prom far to much experience)

Hope all goes well.

Not all dealers are the same my friend...some do have respect for the car they are working on and some also take pride and care...which would include cleaning up any grease afterwards...Please DONT! tar us all with the same brush with rash statements like this..discrediting any BMW/MiNi Trained technicians like this wont make you popular when you need some help or info on here now will it?...

By for now.

here to help,

I meant no offence to any bmw/mini technicians, and apologise for the generalization. it's just I have had more than my fair share of bad luck with my mcs, and however much it makes me smile whilst driving it, it's just gets ya down when so many things go wrong with it.

once again, sorry.

Well.. it seems mine was the "memory" issue... I brought it in a little before 7 am today.. and left at 7:05 something about forcing it back past the rachet to reset it.
Alex was a bit vague. but a bit funny.. said it was a technical 3 step process .. and if he told me.. he would have to kill me.. (smile)

something about inadvertantly hitting the inboard lever and the outboard lever at the wrong times and forcing it back too far?? not sure.. but it works now

very happy with the staff at Hassel Mini... let alone i could walk there in 7 minutes if need be

Thanks for this thread. This happened to my g/f's MCS (pepper white too!) yesterday sitting in traffic between Cinci and Columbus Ohio. A truck up ahead dumped its load all over the road, blocking both lanes of the interstate. While waiting 45 minutes for the stuff to be cleared, Amanda leaned back the passenger seat. It wouldn't come up for anything. It isn't so far back that it's rediculous, but we do have to drive an hour to the nearest Mini dealer. I'm pretty mechanically inclined (mech engineering), but I don't want to f something up and end up having to pay to get it fixed instead of warrenty covering it. Thanks for letting me know that it is a quick fix, though.
