fuel-filling cut out

hello- im having a problem filling up the mini at the petrol station, when the fuel will cut-out only after a few seconds leaving me with only £3.50 worth in the tank after the first attempt. the petrol station staff suggested i was putting in the nozzle at the wrong angle and that theres definitely nothing wrong with the pump itself.

anyone have any ideas? this is the 2nd time its happened and its getting annoying
