Offline | Noise shifting from 1st to 2nd Having had some beautiful weather here in the NJ area lately (long overdue) I've been doing quite a bit of driving with the windows down lately and I hear a noticable sort of "klaclack" sound when shifting from first to second. It's not a grind or the result of a bad shift and I don't seem to hear it when I shift up or down through the rest of the gear range. Anybody else have this? It doesn't sound wrong, just an exaggerated external noise that seems unusually loud. Thoughts? |

Offline | have been hearing it since day one but it doesn't seem to be a malfunction and it doesn't do it all the time.I remember reading somewhere that the first gear "plate" is a lot "beefier" in order to protect it in case of an accidental downshift at speed. At any rate don't worry too much because it's still under warranty. db cooper |

Offline | I would say it's normal. If you sit in any car with the engine off and row through the gears you will likely hear clicks and clunks as you go through them. The MINI just happens to clunk loud enough that you sometimes hear it with the engine running ![]() |

Offline | I have seemingly fixed my klaclunk sound. Now when shifting from 1 ~ 2 I pull the stick back and to the right just a smidge....now it took some time to perfect shifting like this....once or twice I put it into 3rd, but it has eliminated the noise. I think the noise is the reverse gate...hope this helps LY/BLK MCS, Prem, Sport, Roof Rack |
