Offline | Unlatching Hatch From Remote I recently had one of my programmable options changed from Comfort Opening to the option to unlatch the boot hatch. The fist time I tried out the feature, I realized that when I held the unlock button in on the remote for 5 seconds, the latch for the hatch did indeed make a sound and the door moved a little, but it remained latched requiring the unlocking of the rest of the car and using the button under the handle. After reading a few threads here, I was led to believe this was normal and simply a poor design. If you are experiencing this problem, it is NOT normal and the fix is incredibly simple without the use of tools or a trip to your dealer. There are two rubber bumpers on each side of the hatch that contact the car when the hatch is closed. They contact the car at about the same level as the top of the taillights. You can unscrew these bumpers to extend them or screw them in to make them shorter. If your hatch doesn't fully unlatch from the remote, unscrew each bumper a half turn and try it again and repeat until the hatch fully unlatches from the remote. (If you unscrew them too far, the hatch will become difficult to close.) This same adjustment can be made to solve hatch rattling problems. Sorry if this fix is posted elsewhere on the sight. I did a search and couldn't find anything on it. |

Offline | The weight of the tailgate stopped it unlatching on my MCS, just like Minimum's. I had it reprogramed to comfort opening of windows which, for me, is of far more use, particularly on a hot day. MCS JCW CR/CR ; MOD LY/B |

Offline | I was thinking of going back to the Comfort Opening too. Even though the remote now opens my bootlid like it's supposed to, holding that button in for 5 seconds is a bit of a pain. Also, in the process of getting my options changed, I lost the ability to open the windows using the key in the door lock as well as by holding the lock button on the switch panel to the unlock position. |

Offline | What? Can you hold the lock button on the dash to open the windows and roof? I've not seen that feature mentioned anywhere before. IB/S/W/W/Magnesium/SpaceCloth/Prem/Cold/Sport/NoStripes /FeelsGreat/LessFilling |

Offline | That does seem to be a problem. I had the aux. lights programmed in the other day, only to realise the next day that all other options - follow me home lights & comfort opening, had been disabled. Seems to me that some tech's may reset everything as a matter of course before checking what was already programmed in. Back to the dealers for me...... Offline | Apparently you can. I learned about it from the CD-ROM that came with the car by clicking the following: 1) Get a Handle 2) Obsessively Organized 3) R 4) Really Convenient Feature You can hold the lock button upward and it will open all the windows. This really will be a convenient feature if I can ever get it to work. |

Offline | I sat in my car along side the service advisor when she made the program changes to my car. It was just a matter of plugging a laptop PC running Windows into a port near the floor on the driver side, then running a cheesy-looking program and clicking the appropriate checkboxes. The software didn't show any sign that everything else was changing. I mentioned to her that there's a lot of people out there that would love to get their hands on that program. |

Offline | Minimum, I did what you said for the little rubber springs in the boot (extended them all the way) :: didn't work for me. It's only 65F degrees & my Cooper S is 15 months old. I hope the boot shocks are not worn out already. I do notice that I have to close the boot with a bit more force. I don't get the latch engaging at machine gun speed anymore. I was going to have the comfort opening programed anyway...but at least I now know what was supposed to happen. Thanks! |
