| MINI2 Regular | When i go over bumps braking there is a scraping noise which sounds like metal scraping along the floor. It's horrible. Is this normal??! And no i don't fly over bumps, i slow down beforehand, but sometimes i have to brake on a bump and then it makes the noise. HELP! *March 2003, Mini Cooper, Solid Black, White Roof, White Bonnet Stripes, Red Tartan Kaleido/leather, Chilli Pack, SSP, 6 CD Changer, Cassette Boost Bootiful!! - Now gone But still got the MINI spirit ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Ok, i just assumed this was me being silly and overprotective of my car but it still does it and this morning i thought the bottom of my car had fallen out! I came up to a set of traffic lights, braked and when i put my foot on the brake pedal, it felt like it was going to go straight through the floor and made that horrible scraping noise and there was not a bump in the road, anyone else experience this? *March 2003, Mini Cooper, Solid Black, White Roof, White Bonnet Stripes, Red Tartan Kaleido/leather, Chilli Pack, SSP, 6 CD Changer, Cassette Boost Bootiful!! - Now gone But still got the MINI spirit ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Last Service was about 2 weeks ago!!! Had 2 new front tyres and brake discs and pads! It feels like it's coming from the bottom of my car. *March 2003, Mini Cooper, Solid Black, White Roof, White Bonnet Stripes, Red Tartan Kaleido/leather, Chilli Pack, SSP, 6 CD Changer, Cassette Boost Bootiful!! - Now gone But still got the MINI spirit ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Ok thanks, i'll see if i can take it in today. Just thought maybe it was me, i suppose it's not really something that would get looked at when it is serviced. Thanks for the advice ![]() Haven't been there yet, will do it around lunchtime. I'll keep ya posted! *March 2003, Mini Cooper, Solid Black, White Roof, White Bonnet Stripes, Red Tartan Kaleido/leather, Chilli Pack, SSP, 6 CD Changer, Cassette Boost Bootiful!! - Now gone But still got the MINI spirit ![]() |

Offline | You sure it's not just the ABS kicking in? I have noticed the same behavior on mine but it is obviosuly the ABS trying to do its thing. The ABS system seems to be a touch on the sensitive side compared to other systems I have driven. 2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |

| MINI2 Regular | It's like a metal against floor, like when i press against the pedal something comes out the bottom and scrapes along the floor. I haven't been to the dealers yet to check it out but i'm going tomorrow to get a quote for my spoiler so i'll ask them then. *March 2003, Mini Cooper, Solid Black, White Roof, White Bonnet Stripes, Red Tartan Kaleido/leather, Chilli Pack, SSP, 6 CD Changer, Cassette Boost Bootiful!! - Now gone But still got the MINI spirit ![]() |

Offline | The fact that it only happens over bumps (is this correct?) still makes me suspect the ABS. If the noise happens all the time when braking, then there is certainly something wrong with the brakes. See if it makes the same type of noise if you apply them firmly on a gravel surface. 2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |

| MINI2 Regular | If it is the ABS system, is that what it is supposed to do? Is that the noise and the thuddering through the brake pedal you are supposed to hear? *March 2003, Mini Cooper, Solid Black, White Roof, White Bonnet Stripes, Red Tartan Kaleido/leather, Chilli Pack, SSP, 6 CD Changer, Cassette Boost Bootiful!! - Now gone But still got the MINI spirit ![]() |

Offline | Ok, now you've got me wondering about mine too, thanks a lot Now I'm going to have to take mine out for a thrash tonight to see exactly what kind of noise it makes.2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |

Offline | The pulsing of the pedal is normal. The noise has seemed to me to be a little on the loud side and now I'm not sure what "normal" for a Mini is (thanks to tagheuer). 2004 Winning Blue Mazda RX-8 |

Offline | my bet is that its the plastic lip in the bottom of the front bumper. My 2004 S scrapes on speed bumps and it does sound like metal scraping. You can feel along the botton of the front bumper where it catches. I bet you havent got SS+, this is the first of the three MINI's ive had and does it because of the softened 2004 MY suspension. | MINI2 Regular | I have got SS+, it's not my front bumper cos believe me i *know* what that sounds like I must drive over - and i'm not kidding - 30 bumps on my way to work, hit them too fast and scrapy bumper, hit them too fast and brake going over them scrapy noise under car, nasty brake pedal! Oh i dunno, i'll go take it to the nice BMW people tomorrow and see if they can see anything wrong. Thanks for all your suggestions though peeps ![]() *March 2003, Mini Cooper, Solid Black, White Roof, White Bonnet Stripes, Red Tartan Kaleido/leather, Chilli Pack, SSP, 6 CD Changer, Cassette Boost Bootiful!! - Now gone But still got the MINI spirit ![]() |
