Offline | Cooper Gearbox Problems My cooper has started to make a loud grinding noise when pulling away in 1st gear. If i pull away slowly it seems fine, but if i pull away quite fast it starts making a grinding noise and seems to lose power until i change gear. All the other gears are fine. I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow , I will probably need a new gearbox. (Another fault to add to the list) Has anybody else had this problem? My MINI has done just under 16,000 Miles! 1st: 02 Mini Cooper , Silver metalic, Manual Aircon, Sports seats, trip computer, alarm, Pepper pack, ASC+T, Leather S/Wheel, heated washers/mirrors, Stereo Mods 2nd: 53 MINI ONE D, Indie Blue+Union Jack, Auto Aircon, sports seats, Salt Pack, Alarm, Leather S/Wheel, sports Suspension, visibility pack, heated washers/mirrors, 16" 5 star alloys. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Cooper Gearbox Hi, I have just bought a MINI Cooper, and picked it up from my local dealer 2/9/03. Admitedly, I have driven it a little hard but what can you expect from such a competent chassis?!? On saturday, I went to pull away from a parking spot when I heard a loud bang and lost all power to the front wheels... I have just heard from BMW that I need a new gearbox (this car has only done 500 miles!!!), drive shaft and C.V. joint - not a happy mini owner. I can't complain about the service I recieved from MINI Emergency, they have been truely fantastic to deal with and are a credit to the company... Very quick, and nice guys aswell! Have I been unlucky? David |

Offline | I went into the dealer, and its keeps jumping out of first gear, new gearbox ordered for week wednesday. anyway I was driving home from work tonight and the whole box started to grind and stopped working, no forward gears only reverse. I phoned MINI Emergency and the car was collected and is going to the dealer tomorrow. Hopefully i won't have to wait until a week wednesday. 1st: 02 Mini Cooper , Silver metalic, Manual Aircon, Sports seats, trip computer, alarm, Pepper pack, ASC+T, Leather S/Wheel, heated washers/mirrors, Stereo Mods 2nd: 53 MINI ONE D, Indie Blue+Union Jack, Auto Aircon, sports seats, Salt Pack, Alarm, Leather S/Wheel, sports Suspension, visibility pack, heated washers/mirrors, 16" 5 star alloys. |
