Someone please identify this click.

The car begins to go forward, CLICK. I let off the accelerator, CLICK. I notice it most at low speeds. It comes and goes like the weather. Once i heard the wheels go click-click-click as I drove along. Once. Dealership found no sound unusual to their cooper s. I think their cooper s has every bug listed on this forum plus some we haven't discovered yet.

But then it wasn't making the click when i handed it over to them.

What could make that noise? Seems to come from LF wheel.

Does the click stop if you press the brakes - could be that the sprign clip on the brake pads is loose or gone thus allowing the pads to move slightly during movement of the wheels.

It's a bit of a long shot though.

Hope you find out what it is as these things drive me nuts if you can't find the source!

the noise only happens alone, TICK. that's it. It's not a matter of holding down the brake. And since it happens unpredictably -I wouldn't know if the brake was preventing it or if the tick wasn't going to happen anyway.

ok this may sound really stupid.. but honestly I used to mistake the same click for something dumb.

Check your tires to see if there any small stones lodged in the tread... I have thought on many occassions something is wrong as my car is clicking down the st. only to find out pebbles were stuck in the tread and was causing the noise as I drove.

I now check for pebbles in my tires everytime I was my car

Nope, I've heard that noise before. The noise we're describing is not rhythmic. Thanks, though!

Add another one to the mysterious click. I only notice it when I'm sitting at a traffic light. At first I thought a heavy drop of rain or something from a tree hit my roof. I've notice now that it seems to be coming from under the car. I don't have to be moving for it to happen either. It's got me stumped.

I can report the same problem. Mainly at low speeds when coming of the power.. very annoying. It's a very similar sound to that of a stone in the tyre (one click though) or a coin flicking up from the road to the underneath of the car. Seems to come from the front right of the car.

Check the Glovebox

I recently noticed a similar sound coming from the right front of the vehicle. It began after I placed a pen in the sunglass tray of the glovebox. Your click might be different. Once I reorganized the glovebox (so nothing shifted), the click disappeared.

I have also got this click on my 2001 registrered one. I have taken it to the dealers who failed to reproduce the sound or vibration you can feel through the passenger footwell. My grandad is a retired mechanic and believes the fault is a driveshaft bearing but the bmw technician could not find anything wrong so the car is due to see the mini area technician on the 16th of august.

Hope this helps
