Has anyone experienced a metallic / whining noise which is worse either from start up a hill or reversing back / pulling away in first. Appears to come from the rear wheels - almost as if some parts are rubbing - (similar to having handbrake on slightly - PS I have checked that it is not on...) The noise gets worse once the car is warm - i.e. after half an hour driving or so!
The worst thing is my commut everyday consist of a very steep hill in St Albans......

if the wheel has been off in the past the dust sheild could be slightly bent and rubing against the rotor. the other problem could be the caliper is failing and keeping some pressure on the rotor. it is normal for the pads to slightly drag against the rotor but if you were to lift the car and spin the wheels they should spin almost freely. the front wheels will have more drag than the rear due to the added drivetrain componets.
