Offline | Rattle in drivers door I know that this has been covered before but I actually located where my rattle was, on the pic attached I have shown where the rattle is, (it was the only door pic i could find) basically when i press down on the blue area (quite firmly) the rattle stops completely so before i take the door apart is there anything behind that area that would cause this just so that i know before finding there is nothing to tape up. Thanks in Advance Tom. |

Offline | Tom, I have a similar problem with my Mini Cooper and initially it appeared that the rattling was coming from the area you've identified but after having a good listen I think it is coming from behind where the reflector is situated on the door. Personally I am a bit reluctant to pull the door to bits but after returning the car to the dealer the problem still persists! Hope you have better luck than me! |

| MINI2 Newbie | I too am suffering from door rattles and also an irratic sunroof rattle. Two trips to the deal have resulted in zero change and there response has been "can't reproduce therefore no fix". It is such a shame as I love my Mini Cooper S so much but the rattles are persistant and annoying and pain me every time I am in the car. I am ready to start a letter writing campagin to Mini/BMW to get them to pay attention to this all to common complaint. |

Offline | All: These door rattles are a very common problem and the fix is simple. They are caused by the design of the connection mechanism used to attach the panel to the door frame. I'm surprised that Xtian's dealer didn't at least install the revised clips (they added felt washers). In any event, along with the four screws, there are 10 plastic clips and that hold the panel on. These are very prone to buzzing and rattling. The solution is to remove the panel and, using felt tape, cushion the areas where they touch the panel and the door. Additionally, while you're in there, using felt tape and or some duct tape, you should attach anything else that looks rattle or buzz prone. This is a sure fix and is something you'll do better than the flunky at the dealership. Removing the door panel is easy and is covered on several threads here, just search under "door panels" or "removing door panels". Happy sound-proofing. |
