Offline | 3 Weeks & Trouble Already I took my three-week-old Cooper CVT in for an inspection -- because I bought it out-of-state -- and when I got it back, there was a strange noise coming from what I thought was the driver's side front wheel at low speeds. I noticed the center plate on the hub of the wheel wasn't on right, so I took it back in. The service people fixed it and the noise was gone, so I drove home. But no more than a mile from the dealer, another noise surfaced -- a sandpaper-like scratch that increased in frequency as I drove faster. Once again, I took the car back and took the service advisor out for a test drive. She heard it, too -- it was very loud over 28 mph. After a brief wait, she told me it was my transmission -- and they don't know if I'll need a whole new transmission until tomorrow. Stay tuned. -Court |

Offline | Bummer... Bummer Court... no indication or noise before before taking it in? Was this in to your local dealer? How far have you driven it? Don't have words... hang in there... trust that all will be fine. John ... ...Hers: '02 LY/white, CVT ... ... Offline | Thanks for the encouraging words, John. No, it wasn't my normal dealer. I purchased in NJ but had to have it inspected in New York in order to register it here... I figured the MINI dealer here could handle it. I hadn't even finished the break-in period. 800 miles total. And I heard no strange noises until AFTER they did the inspection. I'll keep you posted... |
