Offline | I know that Minis are basically BMWs, and I know quite a few people who have had problems with their windows on BMW 3 series and Z series. The problem lies in the fact that the windows are pillar-less, and if people consistently close the car doors by pushing on the windows the window motors stop working, and in a bad case the windows went down but wouldn’t come up. Tricky if its midnight and there is no secure place for you to leave your car over the night . The Minis windows are also pillar-less, and I was wondering if they have inherited this classic BMW fault? All the best, Adam |

Offline | LOL. . I gave my dad a lift today and he opened the door a bit, then turned to talk to someone, and when he turned back HE TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR BY THE WINDOW!!! Needless to say I went ape-![]() ![]() ![]() , and then as he got in he kicked the door panel (another peeve of mine). Im still debating if im going to let him in the car again. Also, last night when I dropped off my girlfriend she closed the door by the window, and as I drove off she might well have heard me screaming! (and I had the windows up...). I think I am going to have a laminated card printed up like they have in planes with the correct procedure! All the best, Adam |

Offline | I'm from Arizona, and my Mini has already burned out the drivers side window motor in less than 2 years. Apparently, in the desert heat, the window molding heats up and expands and puts a lot of strain on the motor. The service rep replaced under warrantly but didn't give any hope that a new improved motor would be coming out soon. He indicated that BMW is slow to react to these types of problems. ![]() |
