Un-even tyre wear..

The tyre pressures are ok ? but the centre has worn more than the sides of the tyres anyone else had this problem.

Im sorry to say it but I think you have deffinatly over inflated your tyres.... I've done it before, my tip is to not trust the gauges on the air you get at petrol stations, the cheapest most accurate way to check a tyre presure is a pencil gauge this should ensure it doesn't happen again.

One of the car mags I subscribe to did a study on air gauges. Must have been a slow month at the office for them

The filling-station ones were obviously way off. They just got too much abuse to stay accurate. The pencil-type were accurate initially, but tended to read high once they had some wear on them. The dial-type were poor to good, depending on who made it. But the best ones were the cheap digital gauges that you can buy for around $10-15USD. They were the most accurate (to within 0.5 psi), and maintained their accuracy over their lifetime.

It’s my understanding that MINI'S are delivered to the dealers with excessive tyre pressure and they should check it before delivery – this may be your dealers fault ask to see the pre delivery inspection documentation.

Yes, the dealer should ensure the tire pressures are correct at time of delivery to the customer. But, following that, it clearly becomes the customer's responsiblity to be sure his car has properly inflated tires, right?

So if they deliver a car with no engine oil and it seizes it would be our fault???, I will be checking my pressures when delivered (well now I will) but if the tyres have worn excessively due to dealer error they must accept some of the blame.

My Cooper was delivered to me with all tyres at 45 instead of 30 - it certainly made for an interesting 1st week (Until I checked them) with very poor handling in the wet and rock-hard ride!

15 PSI difference!!!! are BMW/MINI that incompotent?, I will certainly make sure mine are right as I don't fancy replacing those 17" run flats due to uneven tyre wear!

I've had new cars delivered with the pressure at or above the sidewall limit. I've also had the "technicians" at the Miracle-Lube places fill the tires to the sidewall markings (Gee, thanks guys )

This is something that the MINI dealerships should check before putting the demos models out for use. If a customer experiences a rock-hard ride, they might get the wrong impression of the car. Especially with all the "Do the 17's ride hard?" questions that there have been.
