Offline | A few weeks ago whilst driving, the ABS, DSC and flat tyre warning lights all came on and stayed on. For a while I thought it was a flat tyre but reading the manual showed it was a fault in the ABS and/or DSC system. Took it to the dealer and they found a faulty senson on the front right wheel. Three weeks later and I take the car in for the replacement sensor to be fitted and, 6 hours later, the car is returned saying that the sensor is working but they can't get the lights to go out. And so they want me back in a couple of weeks to replace the ABS modual to see if that works. Interestingly, the ABS warning light has gone out, only the DSC and flat tyre lights remain on. Anyone seen this before? I looked around here and saw peopl with all three lights on but didn't see any with just the two. Given that the ABS light has gone out I am not sure that their suggested remedy is going to work. I live 3 hrs from the dealer and want my visits to be productive. | FUN 2 BE NEWBIE | Paul- That is what it sounds like to me, it is weird that they couldn't clear the lights though, because once you clear the lights it takes about 5 minutes of driving for the lights to come back on and it will set a new fault. I would make the 3 hour trip back there to get it fixed, but it probably will not cause any driveability issues. Also, what dealer are you taking it to? Janksrt |

Offline | Read the threads and it certainly seems like the steering wheel angle sensor is at fault, thanks for pointing it out to me. I am going to call the dealer and tell them to make sure they have a new one for me when I get there. Right now they think its a continuing problem with the ABS so I don't think they are prepared to mess with the DSC. The dealer I use is Brecht's in Escondido, CA. I've been there quite a few times (unfortunately) but they seem to be pretty decent. Offline | abs, dsc and flat tire monitor lights all are lit Out of the blue, all three lights came on yesterday and stayed lit. I checked the air pressure and all was fine there. Tried to reset the flat tire monitor and that didn't work. Have you narrowed down the problem you were having? I haven't called the dealer yet. Thanks Tom |

Offline | I've had two sensors replaced on my car. The dsc light comes on in agressive turn. Front brakes will lock up turn and cause loss of steering. Car will go straight until you let off brakes. mike www.fourbrews@hotmail.com Hearing scheduled for buy back under Lemon Law. Last edited by fourbrews : Mar 31st, 2004 at 04:36 PM. |

Offline | Yesterday I had the same symptoms as you; all three lights came on at the same time. As I've had a wheel bearing replaced last week I suspect that a sensor problem is being involved. Is your problem already resolved ? is there anything in it related to a ABS sensor ? |

Offline | I've booked a visit next Monday to investigate what's going on with the sensors, meanwhile I'll drive with a car that looks like a Christmas tree light. I'll keep you informed ![]() |

| MINININININININI! | I don't know if anybody has had the same problem, but I will describe it anyway! The ABS on my 54 MCS seems to kick in more than is normal. Even when driving normally, slowing down normally, the brake pedal vibrates - not all the time but at least 2 / 3 times per week. Has anybody else experienced this? or is it normal - I am quite concerned as they are the brakes after all!! Any help would be great prior to me taking the beast to the dealers. Tom 0 days to go....lets drive!!! CAN YOU TELL WHAT IT IS YET!!!! |

Offline | We had an ABS/DSC module malfunction... ..., and minutes later the car caught fire while parked with the ignition switched off and key removed. I posted details of this incident on a previous thread in this forum (http://www.mini2.com/forum/faults-fi...t=mcs+on+fire). This thread has not been updated as we are still waiting for BMW/MINI NA to respond to our request that the car be replaced rather than repaired. |

| Cross-Country Roadfinder | Wow. Glad you're allright. You made me go out and check mine - mine shows no overheating, bared wires or anything unusual. And since I can reproduce mine almost on demand, I feel that my issue is with a snipped or bare wire at one of the wheels. ![]() For the record, (in case anyone else needs to know..) when all three lights go on, you will experience this: 1. All three lights on while driving. 2. Get to your destination, park, turn off car. 3. Putting key back in car and turning on: 3a. If the fault still exists (no signal from module, no signal from a sensor), turning key on will light all three. All three will stay lit until you get to #2 above and repeat process. 3b. If the fault is cleared, the DSC and ABS light will come on solid, the Flat Tire monitor will turn off. 4. After moving about 5-10 feet (perhaps one rotation of wheels?), the two above mentioned lights will extinguish. That's the definate pattern with mine, seems that when it's fine and recovering, the two lights will come on until I start moving. So in my case I think I have a bad sensor or cable, and need to borrow a friend's lift. ![]() Cheers! ![]() |

| Meow | Thanks for the replies on this thread. I just started having this same problem last night: flickr.com/photos/s4xton/158392325/ flickr.com/photos/s4xton/158392006/ Waiting to hear back from my dealer about it. Guess when the warrantee expired? -Aaron P.S. I got an error when posting: "You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 5 posts or more." I would have just put the images in the post. |
