| meep meep! | Is this repairable or do I need a replacement? Driving down the M25 this afternoon when there was an almightly crack. Couldn't see any damage at first then I noticed this (piccy attached). It's about 3 inches long going down the windscreen just to the right of the rear view mirror. Is this repairable or am I looking at a new screen? ![]() |

Offline | If that is the front, hard to tell from the black shading, then yes you are looking at a replacement of the front windscreen. I am on my third, in just under 2 years. MINIUSA paid for the first one, stress crack, second one stress crack in the same place, but it had a very, very small chip. So, my insurance company paid for it, safety issue. I had to pay a deductable. Just got a another one about 2 weeks ago. There have been numerous threads on this issue. ![]() "We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail..." -- President George W. Bush - Sept. 20, 2001 |

Offline | Not necessarily. I remember getting similar cracks into my previous car's windshield and by acting quickly enough I managed to keep the other one without any of those "hair cracks" going from the impact, and the other had one of them but that was stopped too of getting any bigger. This work was all done by specialist and cost me about $40 with a guarantee. After the work it never got wider and the actual impact was hardly visible. |

| meep meep! | It is on the front, just to the right of the rear view mirror. I know there are loads of topics on this already, but I just wanted peoples opinions on the actual crack. I think I'd be happier getting it replaced anyway. I'll contact my insurance company in the morning and get it organised. I'm just a bit paranoid about letting Autoglass loose on my car. I wish I could afford to get it done at the dealer tbh. Cheers for the replies guys. |

Offline | No. As Autoglass will provide their own warranty on the new screen. All you need to do is take your Insurance Certificate and pay the £50 excess. Autoglass even replaced my tax disc and the manufacturers warning sticker in the exact position. Some dealers will probably farm out the work to Autoglass anyway.
