Question Do your washer jets get blocked easily?

When I used the washer jets mounted on the bonnet today they were all blocked except for one. I am thinking of putting a pin down the jets to unblock them but don't want to widen the holes so they loose all pressure. Has anyone else had this and what have you done? BTW, I use premixed Halfords screen wash and now the jets have a blue tint to them.

Hard water area here, I get blocked jects all the time. Use a pin, but be careful.

Also premix washer fluid is horrible, it left powdery deposits all down my car I always use mix your own stuff now, and keep a large bottle that I prepared earlier in the boot.

Nope, and I use normal tap water to mix mine up, use them a lot too

The only times they failed to work occured during extreme cold spells when the pipes were frozen solid

I am going to go gingerly at it with a pin tomorrow. I did a searchand found the problem had been reported before and that pins are the best tool for the job. The problem is worst in hard water areas. I live in Bath which has very hard water so I especially bought the pre mixed formula but it is since putting that in that the problem started. Will let you know how I get on with it but any more suggestions or experiences would be welcome.

In a year-and-a-half of ownership, I've had to unplug mine twice. A pin worked fine.

Most washer jet systems have a little filter in it. If your jets continue being
a problem take it to the dealer to check. No idea where this filter is in a MINI
but it is often next to the washer bottle so it may be more palaver than normal
to check in a MINI. If the worst comes to the worst Halfords sell aftermarket
versions of the filter, you can cut your pipes and stick this in line.

Where is the washer jet for the rear window? My dealer had me looking on/inside the wiper arm, but I can't find anything in there that looks like a jet. There is a little nub on top, back toward the hub end, but I can't tell if that's it, either; I'm getting no washer action at the rear, despite a full tank and lots of pump noise.

It's on the wiper, on the top "side" of the base area. On '05 model years it's more obvious, but not as effective.

Had this problem too, also live in hard water area, i also feel that waxing my car near the washers caused me problems too, most certainly a build up of hard water and wax. Pin didnt help me much!
