Offline | I was driving home yesterday when both the tyre pressure warning light and the traction control warning light came on at the same time. So I stopped the car, got out and had a look at the tyres. All four looked fine. Got back in and started up the engine, gave the tyre warning reset button a good long press (about three minutes), gave the traction control warning light a few flicks. No change, both lights still on. So I drove home (half a mile) and got the compressor out to check the tyre pressures. All four were spot on. Decided to let the car sleep on it. This morning started it up and both lights came on again. Decided to try the equivalent of hitting it with a big hammer. Floored the accelerator in first and dumped the clutch. Tiny bit of wheel spin until the traction control kicked in. As soon as the traction control came off both lights went out. Now the toggle switch turns the traction control on and off and excessive right foot activates the traction control. The tyre pressure light has stayed off. Anybody got any idead what happened? Is it worth mentioning to the dealer while I've got the warrantee? |

Offline | That's odd. Not sure what it might be, but I'd recommend that you mention to your dealer and get them to document it. If it comes up again, you can show that you reported the problem while it was under warranty. It can be hard for them to diagnose a problem if it's not happening and it's not a common occurance with other cars. Best to get it noted on the record in case you find it recurs later.... |

Offline | I've seen the tyre pressure light do this before but not traction control. If it was caused by a fault which then fixed itself, I think the fault details should be logged in the ECU. If you visit your local dealer, explain what happened, and ask them to plug in to the diagnostics, they should be able to find the fault. Also they may be able to do a self test on the systems. Stu |
