Offline | Tailgate will not close Another thing has gone wrong now! My boot will not shut. This is the second time it has happened where the lock is stuck in the open position. First time, somebody fixed it for me by accessing the lock. I'm concerned that the lock is just knackered as it has been making odd noises for a while when I open the boot. Have any of you had a similar problem. Think its going to mean another trip to the garage. ![]() |

| 03 MCS Pure Silver / Blk | Sorry I did not see your question sooner. I had the same problem about 6 months ago. The latch would catch only about 40% of the time. The dealer replaced the entire latch assembly and said it was a common complaint. I have not had that paticular problem since. |

| MINI2 Regular | im bringing this thead back to life to complain and find out what can be done. my has been tailgate rattling for a while now so i took it to the dealer to get it fixed and they replaced the mechanism and catch and it worked... until i drove back home 3 hrs away. now i am driving around with a bunjee cord to the latch! i cant get back to detroit again soon bc i have to either a whole day of work or classes so its not really an option but thats what its gonna come to i think. anyway thats the prediciment, what can i try to do to fix it before it ends up being another wasted day? grr http://www.indimini.com/_playground/...56smallest.JPG 2004 Indi Blue/White MCS MTH and 15% pulley ALTA intake comin soon |

| Damned | I`m not sure there is an easy fix to this without having the internal latch mechanism replaced again. As already stated it is a common fault on early cars, & the replacement is a different part number ...which normally fix`s things. I too had to bungee & rope the hatch down on my 2002 MCS until I could get to the dealer {which for me is only half hours drive away }![]() In da Wud |

| Damned | I thought the Rubber Stop "Fix" was purely to stop squeaks & rattles from the Hatch. Together with replacing the original Black Latch for a slightly larger diameter Chrome one See this thread for details ...also gives Part numbers for the rubber buffers http://www.mini2.com/forum/faults-fixes/36517-big-rattles-creaks-back.html ![]() In da Wud |
