Offline | Air vent squeek Hi, It sounds as though the top of your facia (the topper pad) may have been very sightly twisted when it was fixed in place. The pad and the airvent are joined as one piece. This is held in place by 4 tx20 type screws, 2 each side hidden by the plastic panels you see when you open the doors. If this is the case the twist would give the topper pad unintended contact points with the rest of the facia than usual, and could result in squeeks. Undoing the screws and retightening may be all it needs. However the side panels require a special technique to remove and they will break if you try to just pull them off. Best to see your dealer. He will sort this simple problem for you. Hope this has been some help. |

Offline | Rob I had a rattle in that area. Turned out to be the plastic dash 'top plate' that meets the bottom of the windscreen in front of the airvent. Shoved a bit of paper in the gap and stopped it. |

Offline | Thanks very much for the replies Seems one of those things, not really that much of a problem. It was a warm day and I had been over the North Yorkshire moors on bumpy roads when it was at its worst. Over the last few days it seems to have gone or lessened quite alot. I will leave it for now. Taking your car to the dealer for a rattle is like asking them to find a needle in a haystack, so to speak. Thanks again, Rob P.S. MINIGuy, do you work for MINI? |
