Leaking air-con and high fuel consumption

I've just received my new mini last week. Am a little sad upon realising it's "ailments". My car has a leaking aircon. The water is leaking into my driver's side carpet and drenching it. I'm sending it in soon for repair work. Do any of you have the same problem?

Just wondering, how much fuel per 100km does your cars use? Mine is consuming 12.7 litres per 100km. I use 1/4 of my fuel tank everyday and I hardly travel far. Other than that, I absolutely adore it and the sound of my exhaust. I love driving with my windows and moon roof open, every night.

Mine uses about 8.5 litres per 100km when using 98 octane unleaded. It uses more if I use normal unleaded and it used a lot more when I was running it in. Oh, and mine is a Cooper S.

There is a hose from the bottome of the aircon cooling core to the bottom of the car to take condensation away. The hose has probably become blocked or kinked, it won't be a big problem.

Mine is a cooper. It shouldn't consume more fuel than yours. I'm using Shell 98. Could there be a problem with mine?
