I've recently taken delivery of an 05 MCS with manual Aircon. I've noticed that when I switch this in it I get quite a lound hissing noise that drowns out the fan. Also every 30 seconds or so it makes the kind of noise a fridge makes when the compressor stops and you hear the fuild stop moving about.

Has anyone else had this?, or is it normal (my last car's aircon didn't make a noise like this.

Is the loud noise the radiator fan? They always turn on when aircon is on.

We've not noticed any other sound on ours, but all aircon systems will turn off if the evaporator (cold bit) get bellow about 5 deg C, to stop ice forming.

On one car (not a mini) I found that the aircon turned on an off if the heater fan was on low, but stayed on if it was on full. I assume that the aircon got too cold and stopped if the heater was on low.
