2005 MCS Clock Stopped???

Driving home from work today, the strangest thing happened - the digital clock stopped - stayed on 6:01 PM for about 40 minutes. I reset it and it worked fine, then got back into the car at 10pm, and the clock said 10:40! Very bizarre, anyone else experience this?

My clock sometimes 'flickers' for a while or is hardly readfable when its cold.
Other threads have covered the flickering, don't know about your anti-aging feature.

Pure Silver Mine did this same thing today

I left my house and the clock said 8:35. 10 minutes down the road and it still said 8:35. I reset it to 8:45, and again, 10 minutes down the road and it still said 8:45. So I reset it again, adding another 10 minutes. But it still didn't work.

I parked the car and turned off the engine. When I got back in and turned it on at 9:08, the clock now said 9:28.

Very strange.

THis happened to me this morning on my 05 MCS. Tried stopping the engine and restarting, no joy.

If I advance the clock to the correct time it does not move. Very strange.

Will see what it does when I get in the cat tonight on my way home.

I wish, I was stuck in a traffic jam at the time! Time appeared to stop....and when I looked at the clock, it had!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if this is just a 2005 problem? I'm getting an 06 soon, and hopefully I'll never have to encounter the "time stopping twilight zone".

I posted this same problem on my local Mini site (PSMini.org - Pacific Northwest). A response back on that site indicated this same subject has been discussed on whiteroofradio.com. They indicate this problem is cropping up on a few 2005 models with the center speedo. The fix is to have the clock replaced (under warranty). Since my first maintenance check-up is coming up soon, this will be on the list.

Me too

Just stopped going to work at exactly 8am - thought I was making really good time! Turned the engine off at the lights, then back on again - nothing. Trip counter still works, and I can set the time to whatever I like, but it just doesn't change. Will have to see what happens when I leave work this evening.

This has to be one of the strangest things ever to break on a car. Guess that's what happens when the simple things we all take for granted are made for tuppence-ha'penny in China. Anyone else noticed those bendy drinking-straws always seem to have holes in them these days?

The clock in my MCS ran fast, but they replaced it, and it's been fine ever since. It's a known issue, so the dealer should just replace it.

Same thing happened to me today in my R53 '05 MCS. Could this be related to low battery voltage? My car still has the original factory battery (Coming up to 3 years and 35K miles).

Has anyone tried replacing the battery instead of replacing the clock?
